Pixel Prairie Co. is a handmade mercantile rooted in more than 30 years of creative experience, a love of small-batch goods, and a deep appreciation for the natural world. Based in Lincoln, Nebraska, I create functional accessories, home decor, stationery, reading companions, wearable pieces, and locally inspired goods designed to bring color, character, and meaning into everyday life.
The prairie is more than an aesthetic behind Pixel Prairie Co. It is part of how I live, what I notice, and what I hope to protect. Wildflowers, butterflies, bees, moths, native plants, changing seasons, and the quiet rhythms of the garden all find their way into the colors, textures, and details of my work.
These tools allow me to combine traditional making techniques with practical construction and playful design. Fabrics are selected carefully, details are finished by hand, and many pieces are created in limited quantities. Prints and materials can vary from one item to the next, giving each piece its own personality rather than making it feel identical to everything else on a shelf.
Useful Goods With Plenty of Personality
Pixel Prairie Co. creates handmade goods for the routines, spaces, and small moments that make up everyday life.
The Everyday Essentials collection includes keychain wallets, earbud cases, wristlets, mini zip pouches, tag-along pouches, and clip-on accessories that help keep frequently used items close at hand. Keep & Carry offers handmade bags, pouches, and organizers for belongings that travel with you throughout the day. Home & Hearth brings warmth and usefulness into everyday spaces through hanging kitchen towels, coasters, embroidered ornaments, lace-crochet flowers, and other decorative accents.
Wear the Prairie brings nature-inspired details into pieces that can be worn, carried, or gifted. The collection includes bracelets, embroidered butterfly patches, colorful hair ties, enamel pins, and other accessories influenced by wildflowers, pollinators, and prairie landscapes.
The Lincoln Lore Collection explores another side of the place I call home. Inspired by Lincoln’s landmarks, stories, unusual characters, and local legends, these pieces turn familiar bits of Nebraska folklore into playful handmade keepsakes. More Lincoln legends and curious local stories will continue to join the collection.
Some ideas become permanent parts of the shop, while others appear only in small batches as materials, seasons, and inspiration change. This evolving approach keeps the mercantile fresh while allowing each creation to retain the individuality that makes handmade goods special.
My garden supports monarchs, native bees, moths, butterflies, birds, and many other visitors. It is a constantly changing space where native plants grow alongside carefully selected flowers, unexpected creatures appear, and each season brings something new to observe.
Many of the patterns, colors, and subjects found in my work come directly from this habitat. A butterfly resting on a flower, a beetle moving through the leaves, or the colors of a summer bloom can become the starting point for a new product, fabric combination, or embroidered design.
Handmade Goods That Help Support the Habitat
Pixel Prairie Co. is also one of the ways I support and expand this habitat. Every purchase helps me continue caring for the garden, adding native and pollinator-friendly plants, improving habitat features, and maintaining a healthy space for local wildlife.
That connection between making and habitat care is central to the business. The things created in my workshop are inspired by the life just outside its doors, and the support of Pixel Prairie Co. customers helps that living landscape continue to grow.
Pixel Prairie Co. is for people who appreciate useful objects with a story behind them. It is for those who enjoy handmade craftsmanship, colorful details, real mail, well-loved books, local folklore, pollinator-friendly spaces, and goods that feel personal rather than mass-produced. At its heart, Pixel Prairie Co. brings together prairie living, thoughtful craftsmanship, and care for the natural world. Every item is made with the hope that it will be used, enjoyed, gifted, and carried into the small routines that make a life feel like your own.
