Winter Seeds for Wildlife

Even in winter, my prairie garden continues supporting wildlife. Seed heads left on plants become an important food source for birds during the colder months. Goldfinches and other seed-eating birds often visit prairie gardens searching for these natural food supplies. Leaving seed heads in place also allows plants to spread naturally across the garden. Winter landscapes may appear simple, yet they provide important resources for wildlife. The prairie teaches patience and observation even during the quietest seasons.
